Honest comparison
Memport vs desktop export tools
Several Mac/Windows tools can process a Snapchat export. They assume two things: that you have a computer, and that Snapchat's export format holds still. Before the Sept 26, 2026 deadline, both assumptions deserve a look.
| Memport | Typical desktop tool | |
|---|---|---|
| Needs a computer | No, iPhone only | Yes, Mac or Windows |
| Getting results onto your phone | Automatic, saves straight into Photos | Extra transfer step after processing |
| Snapchat's NEW export format (media inside the ZIP) | Built for it from the start | Mixed: tools built on the old download-link format broke when Snapchat changed it; some paused entirely |
| Depends on Snapchat's expiring download links | No, works from the ZIPs you already have | Some do, and stop working when links expire or change |
| Where your memories are processed | On your iPhone, nothing uploaded | On the computer (offline tools) or via upload (web-based ones) |
| Price | Free to try, $9.99 once | ~$7 to $15 |
The format change matters
Snapchat has changed its export format more than once, most recently moving your photos and videos directly inside the ZIP files. Tools that worked by reading download links out of the export's index file stopped working, some are paused to this day. Memport parses the ZIPs themselves, the format Snapchat now ships, so there is no expiring-link dependency to break.
The short version
If you have a computer, are comfortable moving files around, and pick a tool that handles the new format, the desktop route works. If you're one of the many people whose only computer is their phone, Memport does the entire rescue where your memories will live anyway: your iPhone.
