Honest comparison

Memport vs MemSafe

MemSafe takes the same stance we do: your Snapchat rescue should happen on your iPhone, with no computer and no uploading, before the Sept 26, 2026 deletion deadline. So this comparison comes down to what each app actually restores, and how it handles the messy cases.

The short version

MemSafe is one of the more credible alternatives: genuinely on-device, one-time pricing, and it adds a Flashbacks-style in-app library that resurfaces old memories — a nice touch Memport doesn't have. If that ongoing memories-browser experience appeals to you, it's worth a look.

Where we differ is in the rescue itself. Snapchat's big exports arrive split across several ZIPs, captions live in a sidecar file that's easy to lose, and the most common first-timer mistake is downloading the wrong export entirely. Memport handles all three — multi-ZIP imports in one pass, captions restored, and wrong-file detection with inline guidance. MemSafe's docs are silent on all of them. For a one-shot rescue of eight years of memories, that's where we'd want certainty.
